  With rising heat and electricity bills, how do we stay cool? Here's what our ancestors had done. Ancient civilization managed the scorching heat by digging underground cellars.   They used reed mats .to sit on or lie down. They built their dwellings by the river . They  poured water on their roofs to keep the building cool.   They bathed twice . They had shade providing trees around their mud houses.  Their buildings were well ventilate d. Low.population.density allowed.them to.build larger houses which provided better air flow . People used portable hand fans made of bamboo.  They collected ice during winter and stored them in underground cellars covered with reeds to be used in hot summers. Summer clothes meant breathable ones made of cotton or such natural fiber.  They ate easy to digest fermented foods and stayed cool.  What's stopping you from following their foot steps?
