How to Resolve Conflicts

A client of mine ran a casual dining restaurant with a classmate and close friend.
Within a year of their venture, each felt giving more than receiving and drifted apart emotionally. They vented their grudges to third parties in the absence of the other.

Conflicts among partners impacts regular business operations.

For partner's mental well being and for the prosperity of the business, it is important that disagreements and disappointments are sorted out as and when they arise.

Limited resources, unmet needs and difference in values along with unskilled communication styles  are often the cause for conflicts.

Reflecting on individual needs, resources and values will help communicate the reason  behind your choices to the other

How can conflicts be resolved?

  1. Choose a relaxed time and emotional state
  2. Rehearse and politely say what you want to say
  3. Listen to the other's response
  4. Analyze what leads to conflict
  5. Specify what habits you will change
  6. Request the changes you need from the other
